CHAPTER THIRTEEN

Sebastian was a temptation Jenna would never be able to resist. She shouldn’t have tried. Hot need raced through her as she slid her hands up his chest and around his neck, holding on as she let go. He kissed her until she couldn’t breathe, and then she pulled back.

“What about that?” he asked, satisfaction burning in his eyes.

He didn’t play fair. “That only tells me you want me.”

“Damn right I do.”

An arrow of need struck her core, and it took her a moment to respond. “But that doesn’t mean…”

“What, Jenna? What do you want from me?” She sensed the frustration building inside him. It filled her as well.

“I don’t want anything from you.” He’d pushed her so far past her defenses she couldn’t seem to contain the chaos rolling through her. She wanted to make love with him. But she couldn’t trust him. Couldn’t trust herself.

He searched her eyes, his piercing and demanding. “I call bullshit.”

She squirmed in his embrace.

“If you didn’t want something from me, you wouldn’t have come over.”

He was so right. “I don’t know what I want.” Why did the one guy most likely to break her heart have to be the one she wanted?

“You want this as much as I do. Admit it.” He was so big and sexy, towering over her like the world and all its rules and consequences meant nothing to him. “Don’t be afraid to let me in. You’re not the only one with something at stake here.”

“I can’t,” she whispered, wondering what he had to lose if they made love.

“You can’t do what? Tell me, Jenna. Tell me you don’t want this.”

“I can’t.” God help her. She wanted it more than anything.

He stared at her a moment, giving her every opportunity to run. She couldn’t. Passion flared in his eyes as he bent and nipped her neck before soothing it with a kiss.

She clung to him, afraid if she let go, she’d be lost forever.

With his free hand, he cupped her breast, his touch aggressive and demanding. It was as though he meant to leave her with no doubts where they were concerned. Her breaths grew erratic as she fought to keep a grip on the world spinning out of control around her. She moaned as his fingers found her nipple, his touch so exquisite.

He growled, moving them until he had her pushed up against the smooth wall of logs. He claimed her with a searing kiss, his hands rough and possessive as he fumbled with the buttons on her shirt. He gave up, cupping her bottom and hauling her against him. “Help me before I tear it,” he whispered.

She drew back, her insides a quivering mass she barely controlled. She lifted her shaking fingers to the buttons and began to undo them. He watched her, his eyes dark with a fearsome desire. The man who’d seemed so accommodating during dinner had been replaced by someone more feral.

The moment she finished, he pushed her hands aside, his expression filled with anticipation.
